Semiquincentennial · 1776 – 2026 · A checkpoint
America, 250 years in.
Not a victory lap. Not a funeral. A checkpoint.
On July 4, 2026, the country marked 250 years. We’re spending the year documenting civic life — by research, story, and the voices of citizens.

How an episode is made
From question to story.
Every episode follows the same documentary path — an honest question first, evidence and sources before any narrative.
- 01
Question
We open with a genuine question about how civic life works — not a conclusion we set out to prove.
- 02
Research
We read the record, the data, and the history before we talk to anyone on camera.
- 03
Sources
We go to the people closest to it — officials, experts, and citizens who live the story.
- 04
Story
Only then do we shape the narrative, keeping it accountable to what the evidence shows.
The Steady
A documentary-style civic series.
Each episode begins with an honest question about how power and community actually work — and follows it wherever the record leads.
Episode 01 looks at America’s 250th year through civic life, public trust, and the unfinished experiment.

A note from the founder
Most coverage of public life is built to provoke. I wanted the opposite — something patient enough to explain, honest enough to keep asking questions, and steady enough to be trusted. That is the whole reason this exists.
